If all goes to plan, Dawoshan is where Taiwan’s first off Hong Kong Casino-resort will appear as early as 2019. Once a potential flashpoint of the frontier between Taiwan and China during their decades-long standoff, Dawoshan had 4 military strongholds but has been transformed into a War and Peace Memorial Park where visitors can view decommissioned trucks, machine guns, artillery and other Cold War-era weaponry. The hilly site will be expanded through land reclamation to host a 100-hectare IR under a proposed plan by Worldwide investor Weidner Resorts.
